Oswald Rall Theart is a cultural-historical researcher, an anthropologist, sociologist and even a healer within any given audience. His clairvoyant eye and open ear absorb data almost intuitively and his knowledge of the human nature enables him to embroider on what is fact, so that even fictional characters seem authentic within the specific subculture. 

This is exactly the role that the storyteller plays in his writing niche and in the contemporary Namibian context. With his thorough knowledge of his country, his experience as chief  detective and his love for his fellow human beings, flora and fauna, poetry, prose and song, he integrates his material almost nonchalantly. 

He records anecdotes and stories – material that normally would have been lost – yet he carefully and conscientiously gather words and narratives to ensure a legacy for his people.
